If you want to transfer your domain including website and email addresses to easyname, you should follow the steps in the correct order. This way, outages of your website or email services can be avoided.
First, add the domain as an external domain in CloudPit. The domain remains registered with the current provider.
Open your web hosting package in CloudPit. Click MORE and then Add External Domain.
CloudPit will show you an individual TXT record to verify ownership. This record begins with site-verification=.
Add this TXT record with your current DNS provider for the domain.
Once the TXT record is active, enter the domain in CloudPit and click Verify Ownership.
If the verification is successful, the external domain will be added in CloudPit.
Open MORE → External Domain Setup for the external domain.
For an uninterrupted migration, first choose to keep DNS management with the current provider.
Then copy the required DNS records from the wizard and add them to your current DNS provider.
If you only want to use the email service from easyname, the following entries are typically needed in CloudPit:
| Name | Type | TTL | Priority | Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| mail-in | A | 600 | take from the wizard | |
| MX | 600 | 10 | mx03.secure-mailgate.com | |
| MX | 600 | 10 | mx04.secure-mailgate.com | |
| TXT | 600 | v=spf1 a mx include:secure-mailgate.com ~all |
You can request the DKIM record from support after setup and then add it to your current DNS provider.
If you want to keep email addresses from the previous provider, create them in CloudPit before switching.
To do this, open Email → Email Addresses in your web hosting package and create the needed addresses and mailboxes.
Transfer the website data and, if applicable, the databases to easyname.
