How can I add an external domain?

If you have registered a domain with another provider, you can easily connect it to your easyname web hosting.

External domain in CloudPit

External domain in CloudPit

Once you are logged into your customer account, you will see an overview of your products.
To add an external domain, proceed as follows:

  1. Find the desired web hosting package in the overview.

  2. Click next to it on [MORE ▼] (1) and then on [Add external domain] (2).

To verify ownership, a DNS entry (TXT record) is required.
This entry will be shown to you in CloudPit and must be added before adding the domain at your domain provider (i.e., where the domain was registered).

Once the TXT record has been set correctly, you can add the domain in CloudPit.
Enter the full domain name and confirm your entry.

CloudPit will then automatically check whether the TXT record has been correctly detected.
After successful verification, the domain will appear in your domain overview and can be used in web hosting - e.g., for setting up websites, email addresses, or redirects.

Note:
The propagation of DNS changes can take up to 48 hours depending on the provider. If the verification does not work immediately, wait a few hours and try again.

External domain in the control panel

To configure an external domain, first log into the control panel and select the menu item [Domains] (1).
Then click on [External Domains] (2).

Various options will then be displayed for integrating the domain.
Your domain provider must make one of the changes described there in order to establish the connection.

It is recommended to choose the method of nameserver change, as it is usually the simplest and most reliable option.
Clarify in advance with your domain provider that this change will not affect existing websites or email addresses, so that your site does not accidentally go offline.

After the desired method has been implemented, the domain should be able to be added successfully.
If an error message appears, wait a few hours and try again.
DNS changes may take up to 48 hours to take effect worldwide.
