What is SPF spam protection?

The Sender Policy Framework (SPF - formerly Sender Permitted From) is a method to prevent the falsification of the sender's address of an e-mail. It originated as a method of blocking spam. With an SPF record the domain holder sets which servers are authorized to send emails for this domain via the Domain Name System. If the recipients mail server supports SPF queries, mails will not be accepted if the sender mail server is not listed in the SPF record.

Please note that once SPF has been enabled for your domain, only mail servers that are explicitly released by the entry can send mails. If you want to send in principle or in addition from another mail server as those of easyname, you can add another entry and delete or expand the current one at any time.

The default SPF record for easyname server reads (the first field "Name" is left blank) as follows:

Type: TXT

Content: "v=spf1 include:spf.easyname.com -all"

If you'd like to add your own mail server, change the entry as in the following examples given:

Type: TXT

Content: "v=spf1 include:spf.easyname.com include:mailserver.example.com -all"

or

Type: TXT

Content: "v=spf1 include:spf.easyname.com ip4:77.244.243.83/32 -all"

All options regarding DNS entries are to be found via [My domains]>>"DNS" in the column Availability in your domain listing.
